Three things move the price more than the carrier you pick.
Pack to the smallest honest box
Dropping one size band is usually worth more than switching carrier. Cut the box down, remove the air, and re-measure before you quote.
Drop off where you can
Collection is convenient and it costs money. If the parcel is liftable and a parcel shop is on your way, dropping it off is almost always cheaper.
Give yourself more days
Economy services on large parcels are priced well below express. If the parcel does not need to be there tomorrow, two or three days will usually save more than any other single decision.
What actually counts as a large parcel
